Kaiyun Energy: Driving Innovation in Sustainable Power

Liao Zhengjun graduated from Yangzhou University with a major in Art Design in 2008, worked in Shanghai, and had an annual salary of over 100,000 yuan. How did an artist end up raising turkeys?

During the summer vacation of his third year, Liao Zhengjun saw his family raising turkeys. Later, he found that turkeys were expensive in Shanghai supermarkets. After understanding the wholesale price and comparing it with the breeding costs in his hometown, he was tempted.

Saving the 4,000 yuan he earned, he returned to his hometown to start a business by the end of that year. He rented a few rooms and bought 300 turkey chicks. However, as he raised them, he found that the male and female turkeys were the same size, eating a lot but not growing. After seeking advice from many sources, he learned that domestic turkey chicks were all inbred, and to raise them well, he had to buy breeding eggs from abroad, which were 20 times more expensive. Many times when Liao Zhengjun couldn't even take out 10 yuan from his pocket, he gritted his teeth, sold the first batch of turkeys at a low price of 20,000 yuan, and bought 100 foreign breeding eggs.

This step was right. Although the number of breeding eggs was small, their reproductive capacity was strong, and the stock reached more than 2,000 turkeys in a year, with individuals weighing over 20 catties. He then scraped together another 10,000 yuan to promote them online. The villagers were stunned; customers from all over the country would come to their remote village to see the goods. Opportunities followed.

“A large customer from Fujian called. I thought he wouldn't be interested in a few thousand, so I said that tens of thousands a year would be no problem. He said okay, and that he would sign the contract immediately if there was such a quantity,” Liao Zhengjun admitted that the internet helped him. He learned a lot of information about farmers in other provinces online. At the same time, with the support of the county and township governments, a breeding cooperative was established, experts were invited for training, and online explanations were given using multimedia software for distance education... Organizing goods online and expanding the cooperative offline, they finally successfully completed this large order.

There is a 'Turkey King' in Yancheng! Liao Zhengjun became famous. More and more collaborators joined, and his girlfriend also resigned to marry him and start a business together. He borrowed 1 million yuan to lease 1,000 mu of land, upgraded the farm to an ecological farm, and extended to deep processing.
